Group Reflection

           Sarah-

For this group, I had a minor part when putting this together. Our animators, Michelle, Phil and Vicki, spent about 110% their time animating and putting together this video, so I should thank them for that. I was then assigned to research the safety measures and information about cooking with the stove burners. These tips would be selective particularly by each proceeding step and the importance when cooking.
Afterward, I re-visited through the storyboard, making sure they have clarity to each step and as well as no reputation. I also thought about shorten some of the steps or combining them so we could have scene of demonstrate a few of the safety tips as a visual element: for example, we'll have Vicki's character walk away from the stove to tell that is the incorrect thing to do when cooking these types of food.
Again, I felt a little hesitate because I wasn't doing as much as my other group members. However, I was able to find more than enough resources to use in the video so I did accomplish my job assignments as researcher than doing it last minute.

Michelle-

For this group I think that we worked pretty well together. I drew out the story board but we all edited it through text and in person. The only problem with this project that I had was that there wasn't enough work to go around. Victoria and I animated the project while Phil compiled everything into Premier. I really didn't have a lot for Sarah to do afterwords except for managing the blog, helping Phil when needed and then gathering stove safety. Since she didn't know how to animate she couldn't help with that aspect and Phil didn't need any help with Premier. This project would have worked better if there were less people on the teams. There just wasn't enough work to go around.

Vicki-

This group project was a lot of fun for me! It was especially great working with another animator, whereas we pretty much got to collaborate with our animations. Phil worked hard with editing to not only make our video educational (with the help of Sarah and her research), but also enjoyable so that the audience stays interested. I do agree that the group aspect was a little uneasy because some group members had less intensive jobs than the others (it doesn't mean their jobs were less important, they just had less work to do).

Phil-

This group worked well together. It was great to have a group that played off of each other talents. So with Vicki and Michelle both animated the scenes in no time because they had a vision in plan and split the work evenly with each other. Sarah had very clear description of each segment that we went through in the video. Sarah also went through some of the background music choices that I had picked out and help me decided the final decision.
I would have to agree with Michelle in that the amount of work load that was needed to complete the project could have been less. But I think that everybody does something and it also lessens the amount of work load for some of us. So you can dive into what your strength are and help out the team.

Revision of the story boards

Looking through the storyboards, we decided on making directions of a sunny side up egg (removing the egg flipping).

Have Vicki's character demonstrate a "not to do" element to cooking, which is not leaving your cooking alone

Adding an end reminder to cleaning up your cooking and set up after serving the meal because it is very important when living in an dorm house with roommates to always respect everyone's area by not having them clean up after you.

Oven Safety Research

Here are some of the best tips for cooking safety. They are organized by with scene they should be matched with. Links below for more.

Scene 1- gather materials

Scene2- turn on oven
Heat the oil slowly to the temperature you need for frying or sautéing

Scene 3- spray pan
Keep an eye on what you fry. If wisps of smoke or oil smells emerge, immediately turn off burner and carefully remove pan from stove. Smoke indicates that the oil is too hot.

Scene 4- crack egg

Scene 5 - pour egg yolk
Add food gently to the pot or pan so the oil does not splatter

Scene 6- cook
If you are simmering, baking, roasting or boiling food, check it regularly. Use a timer to regularly remind you that you are cooking

When cooking, turn the pots so the handles do not stick out over the edge of the stove when small children can grab and pull boiling hot food on top of them, or prevent from accidentally knocking it off the burner

Scene 7- gently flip
Don't use metal utensils when cooking, they will easily and quickly heat up to burn your hands

Scene 8 - cook again
Always stay in the kitchen area when frying on stovetop

Scene 9- serve
Keep the stovetop and oven clean after use. Spilled or baked on food can ignite and start fires.

Character designs

Story Board

This is the new revised version of the storyboard for the animation. All of the transitions will be jump cuts. The last one wasn't as clear as it could have been so we changed a couple of things. We added a first scene that compiles all of the materials that would be needed to use to make eggs. Then  for the first step, the heat wasn't clear so the heat settings were added and the specific heat setting was mentioned also. The fourth scene will be a singular scene that would be split down the middle  that shows the egg being cracked and then being added to the pan. The last thing that will be added is the sixth step, so that there is a visual of the egg being evenly cooked on both sides so it looks very similar to the fourth step.
